Ever feel that local martial arts schools are too "militarized" or "Americanized"? Are you looking for a school with a greater focus on self improvement or the actual study of the art with less flashy but more useful techniques? Are you looking for a class where you learn real, useful skills instead of just a belt rank?
Okinawa Shorin-ryu Zentokukai Toude may be right for you - Our focus is on the traditional Okinawian karate where you will learn techniques and skills that are suitable for students of all shapes and sizes (if a 4'5" ~125 lb Okinawian can make them work, anyone can!)
I hold the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black-belt) and the title of Shidoin which gives me authorization to teach new students. I have been training in the Philadelphia area since 1992, and was promoted to shodan (1st degree black belt) in 2000, and nidan in 2006 in my organization which takes these ranks very seriously.
I am currently in the process of getting set up with a local gym or dance studio for a new dojo, and am looking for additional students who may have interest in joining Zentokukai.
For more information on this organization please visit
