The goal of The Behavior Exchange is to coach parents and caregivers on how to help their children change their negative behaviors to positive ones without yelling, begging or repetitive requests. We work in the family’s home, where we assess the needs of the family and educate them on The 10 Basic Core Strategies. The Behavior Exchange helps families to implement strategies that are individualized & personalized for their child and family. We encourage positive learned behaviors by focusing on the child’s positive behaviors, using positive praise and incentives.
The Behavior Exchange works with parents that are divorced or in the process of getting a divorce. We coach parents on how to keep behavioral and family expectations aligned in respective households. We also work with one parent, if both parents are not in agreement to have mutual expectations.
The Behavior Exchange also helps families to create daily routines, such as before and after school, evenings, mealtime, bed time, nap time, chores, family calendars, homework calendars, daily schedules for young children and meal planning. We also organize family play and work areas.
There are many benefits of working with The Behavior Exchange. Sessions are held in the comfort and privacy of the family’s home. Parents have the opportunity to build respectful and healthy relationships with their children as they help to change their child’s negative behaviors to positive ones. Both the parent and the child feel good about themselves and the changes they have made. The Behavior Exchange coaches parents on how to make changes for their family in a respectful, caring and loving way. What the children have learned through the parent coaching does not only benefit their children, but their children’s children and their future generations. What a gift!
The Behavior Exchange program is 14 weeks long, and consists of an assessment, two observations and 11 coaching sessions. The weekly one-hour sessions take place in the parent/caregiver’s home or via Skype. When clients complete the 14 sessions within a six-month period, they are eligible to have The Behavior Exchange as a free resource for the following year, starting from the date of the last session. If a client needs further coaching from The Behavior Exchange that requires a full session, there will be a fee for that session, at the current rate. The charge for the session will be left to the discretion of The Behavior Exchange. The parent/caregiver will be notified before the session if there is a fee.

What is Skype?
Skype is a free program that you download on your computer. You will need an internal or external web cam. It works through your internet connection and allows you to see and hear the person you are communicating with. Sessions take place in the privacy of your home, wherever you may live. It is the next best thing to being there!
