Job Title: Account Executive

Job Summary: Generate advertising revenue by developing new business clients through prospecting and maintaining relationships with past and current clients.
Responsibilities: Account Executives are responsible for new business development sales and maintaining and growing existing client relationships and contracts. Prospecting is a key element of this position; it requires identifying and qualifying new clients for our print, online, special publications, magazines publications and events. This requires in-person calls to local area businesses, meeting with decision makers and maintaining outstanding relationships that grow and build our clients' businesses.
We will look to you to meet specific monthly and quarterly revenue goals, be knowledgeable in the industries you sell, give your personal best and be a team player. A value system that requires high integrity and an up attitude is a must for this position.
Our most successful candidate will have been a top producer in their former sales situation. The successful candidate will be a good communicator and comfortable in speaking and presenting to key business leaders in the Triangle business community.
Prospecting: New business development and prospecting is an integral part of this position. Resources such as referrals, competing media and networking events are among the best source for sales leads. Once a prospect is identified, an Account Executive should spend adequate time qualifying the lead by learning as much as possible about the company.
Product Familiarity/Market Intelligence: Account Executives are expected to read their publication every week and to be familiar with all competing media. They should master each category they cover, and should become familiar with news and trends in their clients' industries.
Paperwork: Account Executives should complete all required paperwork thoroughly, accurately and on time. This includes, but is not limited to, credit applications, contracts, insertion orders, ad workups, sales projections, expense reports, call reports, commission reports and bonus reports.
Communication and Teamwork: Account Executives should keep the Advertising Director apprised of their schedules and developments with their accounts. They are expected to work cooperatively and collaboratively with members of other departments.
Community: Account Executives are expected to participate in all TBJ sponsored events and to provide input as to which of their clients and prospects should be invited. They also should attend a minimum of two, and a target of two, category-related events each month.
Professional Development: Account Executives are expected to participate in all training offered by the TBJ and ACBJ. In addition, they should participate in at least one other training opportunity each year, as agreed upon with the Advertising Director.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education: College degree or comparable work experience.
Experience: Two years media sales experience preferred; new graduates considered.
Specific Skills: Computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, CRM and Internet.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Working Conditions: Attendance at selected business after-hours networking events.
