The Really Terrible Orchestra of the Triangle presents its Really Terrible Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 9, at 7:30 PM in the Reynolds Theater of the Bryan Center on the campus of Duke University.

A Raleigh-based 17 piece big band needs a regular guitar player. The musician must have a good feel for the big band style, and understand swing and jazz. While the ability to read music is desired, as long as you can follow the chord notation on music and know the jazz chords, reading the notes isn't generally necessary.

This is mostly chord work, but there will be opportunities for improvised solos. Also you may be asked to play some quiet chord progressions, or "noodling" in between band songs to fill the space. If you are heavy into improvising jazz solos, there may be an opportunity for combo work as well.

The band is not making any money above expenses at this time, so there is no pay yet.

Looking to Establish Part Time Acoustic Act (Cary/Apex/Raleigh Area)

Singer/Rhythm Guitarist interested in establishing acoustic act. I have performed in rock and acoustic bands both originals and covers as a singer/songwriter, rhythm guitarist as well as drums. Ideally would like to form a trio with another guitar player who can cover lead and sing even if just back ups. Would like to incorporate a female singer so that we could cover a wider range of songs. Even open to keyboards in the mix. Focus on harmonies and quality songs that would appeal to a diverse audience.

Goal would be to establish a set list and then play out 1x/month max. Focus on covers, but would like to incorporate some originals, maybe even some recording as a side note. I do not think there is anything wrong with putting our own twist/style on cover songs. Seeking open minded musicians/singers that enjoy a variety of styles of music. Would like to start with focusing on rock songs (old to new) and country but open to R&B, and other genres.

Rock ranging from Eagles, Fastfall, Matchbox 20, Fleetwood Mac, Toad the Wet Sprocket, John Cougar, Tom Petty, Crowded House, Vertical Horizon, Tayler/Buffet/Van Morrison, Beatles, Green Day, Elvis Costello, Maroon 5, John Mayer, Bare Naked Ladies, Pretenders, Police, Sara McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Hall & Oats, Cranberries, Jack Johnson, U2, Stones, classics that fit acoustically, etc. Country ranging from Lady Antebellum, Sara Evans, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Allan Jackson, Allison Krauss, Rascall Flatts, Dixie Chicks, Brad Paisley, ok with old school country too from Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Randy Travis, etc...

Not looking for anything too serious other than focusing on having fun, enjoying the songs we play, and hopefully providing enjoyment to our listeners. Bassist Needed for POP/PUNK BAND, called Days In May. Hey we are looking for an experienced bassist around the ages of 17-23, to be in our band! Does any working bands have practice space to split/share with another working band. We're basically week-end wannabe's with professional jobs etc. Not drunks or druggies. We have about 6 members incl a horn. Can anyone recommend a space / location that rents or would be available to a band? Maybe conditioned storage type facility or similar.
