Found this puppy at the crown on western and kent running around in the rain. I have a puppy myself and happen to still have my old crate so he can stay with us for a couple of weeks before ill call the SPCA or someone of that like. He had a red invisible fence collar on when we found him.

To the person that apparently believes that they know why it is that I have posted an add for the Silky Terrier Puppy.......

There are some people that will let there dog wonder about without a leash, or run around their neighborhood and then come home one day and oh darn...their dog got knocked up. Well...I happen to have two dogs, and they both happen to be AKC registered. My dogs do not roam about, they are up to date on all of their shots, and they go to their vet when they are supposed to.

To clear up some of your concerns...My husband and I are big fans of Craigslist, we have rescued many dogs/cats in need. We currently have a chocolate lab that when we brought her home she was covered in ticks, skin and bones, and could barely stand up straight. Since we have brought her in to our home we have gotten her spayed, gotten her UTD on all of her shots, she is tick free and very healthy. We will be looking for a home for her in the next 2 weeks. So when I say that our animals are part of the family, I meant it. Even the ones that we rescue. We put a lot of time, energy and love into the care of the rescues and my own pets. I do not appreciate your personal attacks. Do not assume that you know me or my intentions. I do not treat my pets like a "worn out mattress" as you so casually put it.

If you want to talk about backyard breeders, maybe you should focus your attention towards all of the puppy mills that are in NC and across the US. Those people do not love those dogs, they do not pay attention to them, do not walk them, do not bathe them...nothing. I own TWO dogs. I am a responsible pet owner, my dogs had puppies, I took the puppies to my vet, my vet in turn did what she was supposed to do and she docked their tails, she removed their dewclaws, she checked them for any hernias where their umbilical cords were, she checked mom to make sure that she was ok, then I took the puppies in for a follow up appt and they started their deworming medications...after that they went back in again for their final dewroming meds as well as their first round of puppy shots. I am not sure if you have ever taken a dog to the vet, but its not cheap. Try taking several at one time and having surgical procedures done along with regular check-ups. Do you think that all of the "free" puppies have vet check-ups as well as having deworming meds, shots, and etc. Not to mention one of the puppies wasn't strong enough to eat so I had to buy puppy formula and hand feed her for several days. Try and tell me again that I mistreat my animals. It kills me that people like YOU feel the need to flag someone elses add and trash talk them to feel like you have some sort of power. Let me tell you something, you have no power. I will still love my animals, I will still rescue animals in need, and I will find a loving home for my puppy to someone that can afford to pay the re-homing fee that I have asked...by the way I will provide the vet documetation as well as the AKC paperwork from my dogs as proof of everything that I have had done with my dogs. My dogs are healthy, therefor I can provide a full health guarantee, how many times a day do you see that on Craigslist? NONE. That is why I am not going to make a penny off of the re-homing fee and I fealt it was ok to post the add on here. I have asked exactly what I put into it, and I have the documentation to back it up.

There are people in the world that like muts, and then there are people that like purebreed, or "unaltered" animals, as you put it. Why do you care if someone else can afford to pay the vet bills for an animal and you can't? No worries, there is no need to "Stand up for the rights" of well cared for animals. If you want to stand up for the rights of animals then go to a high kill shelter and adopt an animal that you can afford.

This is so true and even if your pet is one of the lucky ones not to get gassed to death there are so many diseases like parvo and distemper going round at those places and 90% of the dogs that get there are not vaccinated. Puppies are particularly susceptible. I have lost count of the amount that I have rescued only to have them die of a horrible and painful disease a couple of weeks later. It is heartbreaking and every time it happens I curse the disgusting excuses for human beings that did that to them. Puppies, particularly are so easy to rehome and rescues will almost always take them. Sending a baby animal with an un-developed immune system and no shots to the pound is a death sentence whether or not they get gassed!
I wish people would try harder to rehome pets themselves or like you say euthanize them humanely at a vet. Dumping pets at a vile gassing shelter is beyond disgusting behavior. \

And heck, how about spaying and neutering pets too while we're at it! 110,000 unwanted animals euthanized a year in NC and counting. In the United Kingdom (England Ireland, Scotland and Wales) where I am from the number is 10,000 and we have a population of 61 million people. Time to try harder, North Carolina!

Are Poodles and Poodle-mixes the perfect pets? They are super-smart, they don't shed, and they are just so adorable and fun! Their thick coats do require grooming if kept long so when they turn up in shelters like this they often look a bit rough around the edges. All they need is to be shaved and bathed. In the future, they will need regular grooming but if you keep them cut short their coats require zero maintenance between trims. I know all this because I have a Poodle myself and there is NO dog fur in my house (my other dog is a hairless Pomeranian -- don't ask :)

Rescued Border Collie/Shepherd Mix Needs a Good Home (Raleigh (near NCSU))

Last Tuesday, I rescued a border collie/shepherd mix from Harnett County Animal Shelter. She is about one year old (vet thinks maybe 10-12 months) and very very sweet. She weighs 40 lbs. exactly, and shouldn't get any bigger give or take 5 pounds. She is incredibly smart, and is already learning sit, down, and shake. She is potty trained (she's only had a few accidents, but its because I wasn't paying attention when she needed to go out). She gets along with all other dogs, people, cats, etc. I have yet to see her aggressive towards anything or anyone. She hardly EVER barks, and is a very obedient dog. I would love to keep her, but being in college, I just cannot handle 2 dogs and a cat right now. She has been started on a Wellness Plan at PETSMART and has gotten all her first shots. She is negative for heartworms, and has been de-wormed for anything else she might have. Please consider giving this beautiful girl a good home.

This precious Lab/Border Collie mix came in as a Stray on 10/20 and was not reclaimed. He was named "Clyde" by shelter personnel and put in a cage. He has not had any walks since coming in and is an active/playful 1yr old. He need exercise and stimulation. Clyde is a good boy though and continues to wag his tail even after being in a cage with very little interaction for several weeks. He appears healthy and is full of life. He's also very affectionate and has the cutest face and ears. Clyde's legal hold period is up so any day could be his last. Please help him if you can.

Hi i have two female cats that i have rescued and kept for a couple of years but have too many pets and animals i have rescued or have had dropped off. I have one blk/brown/wht tabby female who i rescued when she was pregnant. she is in need of being spayed. I also have a young female that is a blue/grey longhair, she was from a litter of kittens from another mother i rescued and she found a home in which she stayed at for a year and then they brought her back because they were moving somewhere they couldn't have pets, she is also in need of a spay. I have and end up with a new stray that is pregnant at my house every year and usually more than one and i really would like these girls go to a good home and get spayed. Please heed the advice of the person writing about coyotes. I live in N. Ral and a couple of months ago, a large animal either a small coyote or large grey fox jumped our 4.5 feet high fence into our backyard and grabbed our cat. Luckily, I was in the kitchen and heard the cat scream. I ran to the door and found the cat being held down by the animal. I scared it away, IT WASN"T SCARED OF ME!, and it finally jumped back over the fence. We immediately checked the cat for bite marks, as he had been mouthed. We then bathed him and took him to the vet for a rabies booster. He is fine but won't be going outside ever again! We now watch the dog when she goes out for a potty break as she is small. We have seen this animal several times since. It is about three times the size of the cat but our cat is huge and weighs 14 lbs. My neighbors have horses and they have seen coyotes in the woods nearby. My vet tells me that coyotes can mate with dogs and so can be smaller than a full blood coyote. Whatever, everyone needs to be prudent when letting pets outside. My cat was grabbed in the late afternoon, so don't think that they are safe during the day, they aren't. Please be cautious!

i am in a little bit of a predicament here in that i am going to surgery for the back and will be recovering for a couple months. in the interim, i will be staying with my daughter in her third floor home. this is not good for a person who has a beloved pet but cannot for awhile take her walking.

if you have a child and have wondered how it would be to have a pet, and you have a fenced in yard, this could help you make up your mind. my little one is named romie, she is a 15 pound black with a large white spot (maltipoo), she is nonallergenic. if your child and your family become attached, then of course after i recover i can bring her out. however, i have found that when you get your own, the other is forgotten. romie is 2 yrs old, crate trained, has proof of shots, and i would sign a document stating i am responsible for anything that happens. she loves kids, can tire herself and a child out chasing a ball, and only barks if she feels someone is threatening her or her family. she loves running outside and this is where the fence is very important.

I went to Duplin shelter today to pick up our new rescue and saw this pregnant shepherd mix. EXTREMELY sweet and loving. SOOOO much wanted to kiss me and lick me through the fence and her eyes were just begging. She is sitting on cold and wet concrete floor, no blanket or dog bed, no comfort or love. All by herself. I can see what you are saying, but there is already the Pet Community, Pet Services and Lost and Found. How many more sections do there need to be? I do agree that some people are flagging ads just to be jerks, but there are a lot of breeders who post here against the rules and list their dogs/cats as rescues or state that they are rehoming them when they are actually selling them.

I also agree that you have the people who only want an animal for free or that accuse someone who has actually rescued an animal of charging too much when they ask $50 for a rescue puppy because "shots only cost $4-5 dollars and wormings the same" when they obviously don't realize that some of the puppies might have needed bottle feeding (replacement milk is expensive) or that they have spent time with the rescuer who has had to feed an entire litter for a period of time. But they can't see past the blinders they have on.

The more I think about it, the better I like your idea. Maybe even have a Pet Products section. Good luck!

Beaufort and Macon were born out in the woods and were fending for themselves with mom. Now that they are vetted and tame, they are ready for their forever homes. It was sheer luck that found Macon rescued from the woods. One of 2PawsUp's fosters had seen one kitten with mama, but when she checked the trap there were two! Macon is a very petite gray kitten that would have been hard pressed to make in for long on her own. She is very affectionate and tiny and is a loving sweetheart. She loves dogs and hasn�t found a person yet that she doesn�t want to love on. She opens her tiny mouth and mews softly when you are around. She is definitely more of the lap cat variety and likes to be in your arms safe and warm. If you won�t cuddle her, she will tuck herself into a safe place and settle in for a nap. Macon would love to be adopted with her sister, Macon, or into a home that has another kitty or dog for her to make friends with. Estimated DOB 08.21.2009.

She loves the food bowl, and is hilarious to watch eating: She will cover it with her paw and growl as she eats, hoping that will keep others from trying to get her dinner. Romeo is a shy but very sweet kitty that was rescued from the Harnett
County shelter with his sister Emily. He is still adjusting in
his new foster home but he is definitely glad to be out of the
shelter! When you start petting him, he moves his head around until
you get under his chin and sometimes he will roll over on his back so
you can rub his belly. This sweet boy came from the shelter declawed.
There is not a mean bone in his body and he is absolutely gorgeous!
He has very expressive eyes and I think in time he will probably be
quite playful. He loves treats and will peek his head shyly around
the corner to get some when he hears the bag. This boy is finally
safe and he deserves a wonderful and loving forever home of his own. His fee is reduced to $90 since he was neutered prior to entering our program. Estimated DOB 10/20/2007.

I have 2 adorable, precious lab mix dogs that are need of a loving home. Bella just turned 2 and she is a beautiful tri-colored lab mix. Her mom was a yellow lab, we don't know anything about the father. Buster is a 1 1/2 year old, very handsome black lab mix (possibly pitt bull or cheasepeake bay retriever mix per the vet). Bella has been part of our family since she was 6 weeks old, Buster since he was 3 months old. Both are great dogs who just need more love and attention than I am able to give. We live in a small apt with 2 children and another on the way and it's just becoming too much. They need room to run and play. Buster is VERY active, so the dog park or a large fenced in yard is a must. I want them kept together in order to make this transition somewhat easier on them. They play well together, but won't hesitate to put each other in their place if need be. They are great with our children. They are both so different in many ways: Bella LOVES her belly rubbed, Buster doesn't; Buster LOVES to cuddle, Bella isn't too fond of it. Both are crate/housed trained. Buster still needs to be crated at night and during the day if you are away (he is still in the puppy phase and likes to chew, the ONLY brand toy he can NOT chew thru is Kong). Bella just recently graduated from her crate about 2 months ago and has done very well. She is still confined to the bedroom though while we are away. She has a female incontinence problem that is very common in spayed females (normally when they are older). She requires potty breaks every 2-3 hours, otherwise, you can expect a pee accident. It is not something she can help and she doesn't even know she is doing it. She WILL NEED to be on medication for this issue probably fairly soon. Buster is a very fast learner and very well behaved. He very rarely barks and if he does, it either means something is wrong or he is chasing his tail =). Bella is a good girl too and loves to shake or "hold your hand" as we call it. She will sit beside you for hours with you holding her paw in your hand. But she is very set in her ways. She is somewhat timid and it takes her time to warm up to new people and new situations, so you need to go slow in new situations. Both dogs are UTD on all shots and I can provide documentation, both spayed/neutered and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. They MUST be kept as indoor dogs. I am not asking for any kind of payment or rehoming fee, because there is just no way to put a price on them. It kills me to have to find another home for them, but they need a place where they are the main focus. Don't get me wrong, they have been taken very well care of and treated as if they are our children too, but they just need more room and attention. Before I make a decision on whether or not to place them in your home, I will need to meet with you at least once, if not twice to allow you to meet the dogs and us to meet you and see how they will interact with you. I run around; jump in the air; spin in a circle and run around again. It makes my foster humans laugh so I do it over and over. I play with strings, cat toys and anything I can get my little paws on. I like to help put the laundry away by wrestling with socks. They put up a big fight you know. Helping the pet section on CL so we can get to info we're looking for (craigslist)

There is a lot of flagging going on lately. Several ads have been flagged that don't - in my opinion - violate any rules.

Many people, I feel, flag ads because it gives them a sense of power, but there are others who are genuinely frustrated when they see ads that - in their opinion - violate cl rules.

I think there must be some way to make everyone happy. I propose that community/pets be split into community/pets/lost and found, community/pets/re-homing and community/pets/rescue organizations. This would help people who have lost their pet go though found ads without having to muddle though other types of messages and will help lost and found ads stay on the top page longer. People who need to re-home their personal pets would have a section to post where people looking for pets would be able to go without having to weed through other types of ads.

Also, I have gotten the message that many flaggers really dislike rescue organizations. I find this to be very sad and misguided aggression, however, if rescue and animal welfare organizations had their own section where they were allowed to post the pets they have for adoption, information about events they have and possibly educational information they would like to publicize, they would have have a place where people who are interested in their missions and their pets could go. People that dislike or are not interested in these organizations would never have to see these ads. Many breed-specific and/or foster groups keep an eye on cl to see what pets shelters post and try to pull from these shelters when they can. Many adopters are interested in shelter pets. Because rescue and animal welfare groups are continually being flagged everyone, especially the homeless pets, are being hurt.

I'm going to try to find a link somewhere on cl where you can email suggestions, but in the meantime I'd like to see what you all think. The more well thought out this suggestion is the more likely cl will be to listen, so I'd appreciate any help you can give.

If you say you saw the ad on CL then you can board your pets for $14 a day per dog. This includes food, playtime, and any medication administration. We do not charge extra for any of this. Beautiful 15 month old Rottweiler needs good home. I rescued Bodhi (Bodie) from the shelter about a month and a half ago. It�s turning out that he needs more attention than I can give him. He is a GREAT dog, a wonderful companion and always wants to be around his humans. He has one thing that needs more attention than I have time to give it....He doesn�t know how to act with other dogs, and all that excitement that he doesn�t know what to do with quickly turns into him trying to fight the other dog. He accidently bit my friend which is how I discovered this..... he tried to bite her dog, and ended up accidentally getting her instead. He has absolutely no aggression towards any people, adult, child, male or female. Regarding other dogs - when I have walked him around a lake with other dogs, he did get super excited when he saw another dog but he was on a leash and easily corrected. I think he just hasn't been around dogs so he doesn't know the correct way to act. His good qualities: he�s housebroken/crate trained, GREAT with kids (I only know for certain 3 and older as that�s what I have had the opportunity to have him around), loves to play, VERY smart; is learning sit, stay, come. He has quickly learned to stay off the stairs when there is a person on the stairs, to wait his turn. He knows to sit and give eye contact in order to get his food. He LOVES his toys, bones and treats. He loves going for walks and is good on the leash. He�s VERY easy to train. He�s a happy and smart boy who wants nothing more than to please his humans. He�s a loving dog who needs someone who has the time and the heart to rehab all that excitement around other dogs. Taking him back to the shelter is not an option. Re-homing fee $100. He's full grown at 60 lbs. He's fixed. He comes with a 5 month supply of heartguard.
