Friends of Liberty,

As you may have heard by now, H.R. 1207, Ron Paul's bill to Audit the Fed, has run into trouble in committee. Mel Watt, the Democrat representing North Carolina's 12th Congressional District, has, in Ron Paul's words, "gutted" the bill, stripping out the provisions to audit the Fed's monetary policy, effectively de-clawing it. He can do this because he is the chairman of the Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee. Dr. Paul has said that when this revised, toothless version of his bill comes before the general body of the Subcomittee for a vote, he will introduce an amendment to restore his original language. Please see below for a video message from him explaining this in further detail:

This is where we come in. We have to put pressure on the members of this subcommittee to vote with Dr. Paul when he attempts to restore this critically important bill. See below for a full list of members of the Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology Subcommittee, including which ones are co-sponsors of 1207, and which ones aren't. Please, as much as you are able, contact these reps and insist that they support true transparency for the Fed and sound money for Americans. And remember, as Dr. Paul says, be courteous and respectful.

Rep. Melvin L. Watt - D (NC), Chairman
Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney - D (NY)
Rep. Gregory W. Meeks - D (NY)
Rep. William Lacy Clay - D (MO)
Rep. Brad Sherman - D (CA) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207
Rep. Al Green - D (TX)
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver - D (MO)
Rep. Keith Ellison - D (MN)
Rep. John Adler - D (NJ) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207
Rep. Suzanne Kosmas - D (FL)
Rep. Ron Paul (TX), Ranking Member
Rep. Michael N. Castle - R (DE) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207
Rep. Frank D. Lucas - R (OK) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207
Rep. Jim Gerlach - R (PA) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207
Rep. Tom Price - R (GA) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207
Rep. Bill Posey - R (FL) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207
Rep. Leonard Lance - R (NJ) Co-Sponsor, H.R. 1207

As you can see, a majority of the Subcommittee's 17 members are co-sponsors of H.R. 1207, so theoretically, Dr. Paul should be able to restore Audit the Fed's original language. However, as he points out in the video, that doesn't mean that all the co-sponsors will vote with him on this, particularly if powerful special interests are twisting their arms. Dr. Paul needs the support of all the co-sponsors on the subcommittee, especially the two Democrats, Brad Sherman and John Adler. Watt will be putting the pressure on them to support him in gutting H.R. 1207 to comply with President Obama's plans for making the Federal Reserve a "super regulator" of the entire financial system, greatly enhancing its power. If you do not have time to email or call all the members of the subcommittee, please concentrate your efforts on these two men. You can contact the members of the Subcommittee by clicking here: http://financialservices.house.gov/members.html Simply pick the name you want from the list, and the site will take you to their Congressional homepage. You probably won't be able to email the Congressmen by using their online forms, because they're set up to only receive emails from within their own districts, but their phone numbers are displayed. Please call as many as you can. If you only have time to call a couple, make sure it's Brad Sherman and John Adler. Their phone numbers are:

Also, feel free to contact your own Congressional Representative. Following are links for the Mecklenburg Reps of the 8th, 9th, and 12th Districts, which divide Mecklenburg County.

If you're in the 9th District, your Rep is Sue Myrick. She was an early co-sponsor of H.R. 1207. She is not on the House Financial Services Committee, so she will not be able to vote on 1207 until it comes to the full House floor for a vote. It would still be good for her to hear from us about this now, just in case this moves as quickly as Dr. Paul thinks it might. You can contact her through her online form here: http://myrick.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=3§iontree=3

If you're in the 8th District, your Rep is Larry Kissell. Kissell is not a co-sponsor, so he needs to hear from us. Please contact him about co-sponsoring H.R. 1207 and getting true monetary transparency here: http://kissell.house.gov/contact/index.shtml

If you're in the 12th District, your Rep is Mel Watt, the architect of this latest betrayal of Americans' right to sound money. Politely let him have it here: http://watt.house.gov/contactinfo.asp

Thanks so much for everything you've done so far to help Dr. Paul in his efforts to audit, then end, the Fed. We can expect more countermoves like this from the banksters who hold our nation hostage, and it's up to us to fight them, for ourselves, and our children. We can only beat them together, and only then can we restore our Republic.

In Liberty,
