The North Carolina Society of Hispanic Professionals is seeking both Hispanic and Non-Hispanic Professionals, college students, and active members of the community to mentor Hispanic students in grades 5 - 12. Mentors will encourage students academically, support the student's acculturation process to the U.S., and provide social and cultural activities that both broaden the student's worldview and give them more depth of experience in areas of strength or particular interest. Once you have been accepted, a student will be selected from a local school for you to mentor. Matches are based on compatibility.
This volunteer opportunity requires an interview, a background check, and a minimum commitment of 1 school year with 8 hours per month required.
Currently we have mentoring sites at Athens Drive High School and Millbrook High School in Raleigh, and at West Cary Middle School in Cary.
