It is called the "Dictaphone Shaving Machine" by Columbia Graphaphone Company out of New York.
This was one of the first, if not first, dictation machines. Like early records, you would talk or "dictate" into a mouth piece that would then be shaved onto a wax cylinder, which could then be played back for the secretary to type out for you.
This piece has the main chase and 85% of the parts. It is missing it's "dictation tube" as well as the cover for the top of the machine.
Otherwise, the bulk is there.
The piece is constructed of oak and steel and is quite substantial.
The original marks and Lithography are there as you can see in the pictures.
This could be restored, but would also be just a great conversation piece in your home or office.
