These four 3-hour sessions are designed to give participants the opportunity to enhance and invigorate their creativity by sculpting a torso (no head, arms, or legs) of a female and male model. Sessions will allow practice in observing, interpreting, and accurately representing the female and male form. Emphasis will be on using clay to create sculptures that capture the essence of the human torso. Individualized instruction will enable each participant, beginners and advanced artists, to work at their own pace. Figurative artists who work in 2-D and 3-D art forms can benefit from these sessions.
To advance skills in rendering human anatomy, nude models are used for all figurative sculpture sessions. The four sessions will be conducted on Monday and Wednesday nights, 6:30-9:30 pm over a two week period. Participants can sign up for all four 3-hour sessions (2 weeks) or elect to just take the two sessions when the female poses or the two sessions when the male poses. Sessions are limited to eight participants and will be held at Litmus Gallery & Studios at 312 W. Cabarrus Street in downtown Raleigh. Those wishing to attend must reserve a space in advance. Notification will be sent to those requesting a space as to whether there is a space for them or if they are on the "wait list".
