Still flaunting her stunning good looks at fifty-eight years old. She's outrageous!
Great for casual rides or short commutes on flat to rolling terrain - or just to show off a classic American bike in top condition rarely seen nowadays. Her sleek lines, fillet-brazed curves, and bladed forks belie the fact she was built a few years before ounce counting became fashionable. Loaded with chrome-plated appointments, not a featherweight for sure but offering the plush ride qualities Schwinn all-steel bikes were renowned for back then. Our red-carpet vintage bike servicing has her looking her best and running splendidly (see Remarks for details).
For those with stout hearts and strong legs... or those needing to acquire them... she's a fun ride and great workout without getting too far from home. Fits rider height range 5'9 to 6'1". Stand over at top tube is 31 inches.
Though built to last a hundred years, she needs a second lifetime owner to get her there... someone who will take good care of her like the first one did and keep her stowed safe inside. It was a privilege to be the only mechanic to fully service her since the Schwinn factory put her together in 1967. We have rehomed many "retro rides" with adoring new owners and hope you will become hers. You won't find a better Collegiate... for an amazing low sale price payable merely in our new devalued dollars instead of in our good dollars back then...meaning an even better value.
* We are a private home workshop with many years' experience restoring and rehoming fine vintage bikes with adoring new owners - you could be one of them. Our services include careful disassembly, close up part inspections, every piece cleaned & polished, complete lubrication of bearings, springs, pivots, cable lines; tune up, reassembly, and part replacements as needed. In this case, new stainless-steel cables, new brake shoes, an unworn vintage chain and Suntour freewheel gear, from our personal collection of vintage parts were installed. The Suntour gear from 1977 shifts smoother and quieter than the original 1964 French Cyclo gear it replaced.
