I am starting a support group for persons who have experienced major traumatic events in their lives. This will be scheduled for Saturdays at 2:00 PM.

This can include being a victim of a crime, like sexual assault. It can also include child abuse and neglect. If that has happened over many years in childhood it can affect you for the rest of your life, into your 50s and 60s even. Domestic Violence is Traumatic as well.
These traumas can cause one to develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). In the case of DID, a person develops separate personalities or identities. They can have different memories and experiences. The alters can be different ages, with different names, be a different gender as well as talk and act differently than each other.
Perhaps more than one group will be needed based on the nature of the problems. We can discuss that.
Cult and ritual abuse is also traumatic and can cause one to develop different personalities or alter personalities.
Talk to me, Bruce Whealton, MSW (Therapist). I want to bring my skills as a therapist to the environment of mutual peer support. I have been traumatized myself and so I need support also. We all need personal connections and a support network. A strong support network is known to increase a person's chances to heal from trauma.
