The purpose of the Exercise Physiologist / Rehabilitation Provider is to provide the ScoliBalance exercise rehabilitation program to patients in ScoliCare Clinics.
The goal of the rehabilitation sessions is to provide patients with the ScoliBalance program, which incorporates physiotherapeutic scoliosis specific exercises (PSSE) and rehabilitation procedures to facilitate improvement or stabilisation of their presenting condition, in most cases, scoliosis and often hyperkyphosis. This is achieved through one-on-one consultation and instruction with the Rehabilitation Provider after a thorough assessment and treatment plan has been established by the Clinician managing the case. Follow-up visits are scheduled to check on the patient’s progress and ensure the correct performance of the ScoliBalance program or to progress patients who are doing well with their current program. The Rehabilitation Provider facilitates the rehabilitation sessions and develops a home program that is both ‘intensive’ and ‘challenging’. In the majority of cases the patient will require long term treatment.
