JOB TITLE: X-Ray Tech

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, completes the day-to-day MRI, radiological CT, Diagnostic Imaging, and C-Arm Imaging functions to produce quality images for the ordering physicians.

• Interviews pients for the purpose of obtaining pient history and informing pients regarding pient safety, contrast media contraindicions and pient procedures.
• Demonstres compliance with ste, federal and accrediting body standard in radiology.
• Demonstres proper cleaning x-ray equipment and proper handling of biohazard merials.
• Assures pient and employee safety through competency in the use of all equipment and safety equipment including, but not limited to, posting of the radiion safety signs, monitoring of dosimeter badges, proper documention of radiion exposure according to policy and procedures.
• Prepares pient for X Ray procedure by positioning pient, adjusting immobilizion devices, providing instructions reled to brehing, and observing.
• Enters required pient informion accurely into the computer; selects approprie protocol and scans pients in accordance with protocol within acceptable time frames; makes adjustments as necessary.
• Transports equipment and pients in a safe manner to prevent injury to self, pients or employees and prevent damage to equipment
• Performs X Ray procedures on approprie anomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols.
• Predictable and reliable tendance is an essential function of this position
• Performs assigned responsibilities as X-ray, C-arm fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, Mammography and procedure technologist as necessary based on competencies and certificions.
• Utilizes concepts of age/developmental stages in interactions with pients and families.
• Adheres to all Hospital Policies and Procedures, specifically Guidelines for Approprie Conduct, Corpore Compliance, Diversity, and Confidentiality.
• Identifies potential risks to pients: identifies risks to pients in order to reduce incidence of injury; identifies actions to elimine, minimize or report risks; identifies procedures to follow in the event of an incident; reports processes for common problems, failures and user errors.
• Demonstres the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.
• Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day-to-day activities of the position.
• Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of pient care, personnel and stregic issues.
• Adheres to Confidentiality Policy.
• Maintains positive working relionships and fosters cooperive work environment.
• Adheres to the hospital's "Code of Conduct" in the HR Manual.
• Displays honesty and mutual respect when communicing with peers and other departments.
• Follows through on problems th may compromise effective job performance by using approprie chain of command.
• Complies with Nional Pient Safety Goals.
• Universal precautions and infection control guidelines, including hand washing guidelines followed all times.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties in this job classificion
• Demonstres respect for diverse backgrounds of all pients, families and co-workers.

Job Requirements: 

• Graduion from an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology.
• Minimum of two (2) years as a technologist in a surgical setting.
• Current BLS certificion through an ARC or AHA accredited program.
• Registrion through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or registry eligible to be obtained within 1 year of hire and licensed by the North Carolina Ste Board of Radiologic Technologists.
• Effective communicion skills; both orally and written.
• Computer skills needed. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality pient care.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
