About 25 years ago, Fender owned the trademarks for both Guild and DeArmond and decided they would make some old Guild designs as an import line under the "DeArmond" name. These Korean made instruments were remarkably well made and gradually got a bit of an underground rep for a near unbeatable price to quality ratio.
This transparent red DeArmond Starfire is a semihollow "electric spanish" style guitar and is more or less a Guild Starfire IV made in Korea. The pickups in these were pretty good, styled to look kind of like old DeArmond gold foils, although not really sounding like them. The pickups in this one, though, have been rewound to vintage Guild humbucker specs by Tom Brantley, just to make this more like a good old Guild without the issues you often get with a vintage instrument. Electronic components have been replaced with higher quality components as well. The original pickup coils and electronics are included in the sale.
Someone who had this guitar before I did upgraded the bridge to a roller type, so tuning stability is enhanced. Can also come in handy if you decide to slap a Bigsby on it at some point.
I can also include this gig bag I got with an old Yamaha semi-hollow guitar. It's the same style I've seen with other Japanese made guitars.
Selling because I have a surfeit of guitars and am having to make some tough choices due to a late developing nickel allergy. Priced to be a really good deal for somebody.
Willing to trade for DeArmond Starfire Special. (Fully hollow, DeArmond 2K pickups, Bigsby.)
