I love being in the Garden Center. Being surrounded with plants and people who love plants brings me a lot of joy. I know a lot about plants--all kinds--trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, houseplants. I love caring for plants - watering, weeding, pruning, deadheading. I can tell when a plant has a common insect or disease problem, and I know what to do about it. What I don’t know about plants, I am eager and willing to learn. I also love talking to people about plants and suggesting the right plant for the right place in their landscape. I love being outside, especially in a natural setting! Working hard is something I really value. I prefer to stay busy and moving because I have lots of energy. I am strong, unloading trucks, lifting plants and moving them around is no problem, and if I need help, I will ask.

While plants are my passion, I know there is a lot that goes on “behind the plants” to handle as well. I have had experience ordering plants for a garden center and communicating effectively with vendors. I am great at keeping track of inventory and know how important it is to the success of a business. I can quickly input data, do it for hours and still maintain a smile. Staying organized makes everyone’s job much easier, and I do that very well. My communication skills over the phone and email are exceptional. I am very proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, (I’m am especially skilled with spreadsheets) and am familiar with Quickbooks POS. If I am not familiar with a particular software, I can quickly learn new things. I can easily handle day to day needs and run a register, place an order for office supplies, run an errand...generally, whatever needs to be done, I can make it happen.

I know how important it is to work with a team to get things done. As a leader, I know that delegation is really important to things running well and efficiently. It is important to be able to communicate what needs to be done in a kind and professional way, but when a tough conversation has to be had, I can handle that as well.

I have full-time and weekend (at least one day) availability. I need a position that offers paid time off, dental and vision benefits, and has an IRA option.

If this is you, we would love to talk to you about filling a position in our Garden Center. Apply online at www.fgsdurham.com/employment or email your resume directly.
