Do you hate ultra-slim modern e-waste... I mean laptops? I have the perfect computer for you! Ten pounds (well, not quite) of solid metal, a gorgeous Intel Core 2 Duo CPU which can open two entire web tabs, and 4GB of sweet, sweet DDR2 RAM. Indulge your retro side and buy this gorgeous piece of hardware history before it's too late.
All joking aside, this thing has a solid keyboard and it holds up all right for (very) lightweight Web browsing.
**Condition:**
- I have NOT comprehensively tested it, but the only things I know are wrong with it are a few missing screws on the hard drive plate and a missing trackpoint nub.
- It had some trouble booting when I tried to install Linux to an HDD over the CD player. The existing Linux install worked just fine, so my best guess is a bad CD or the CD player getting old, but I can't guarantee the issue isn't critical.
- The battery had some charging problems when I installed it (locked to 6%); I don't know if it was a hardware or software problem. They haven't reappeared for a while, but I would treat it more like an unreliable UPS than a battery.
**Other Gotchas:**
- The battery and power cord are third-party, and I can't vouch for their effectiveness or long-term safety (sorry!)
- No hard drive or OS included. You're welcome to bring your own Live USB or CD if you want to test it!
- The Wi-Fi chip is a late-2000s Broadcom - if you are running Linux, you will need to use an Ethernet cable to download the appropriate drivers. Fortunately, unlike modern trash, this gorgeous old workhorse comes with built in Ethernet!
