$40 each. Several of my woodworking friends have asked me come up with an affordable brass hammer for setting up hand planes. The ones in the catalogs are beautiful but are expensive. I've made 2 sizes: a 3.4oz, 1/2" diameter block planes and a 4.6oz, 5/8" diameter for wooden planes. You can tap the brass face of the hammer directly on the back of the plane blade without risk of damage while the leather face will firmly set a wooden wedge. I've turned the handles from bubinga and set the solid brass heads with epoxy and a contrasting ebony wedge. While not as pretty as the fancy ones, I think you'll agree they perform the same function. Both sizes $40 each. Always happy to ship and please hit the more ads by this user link. I also sharpen most hand tools including saws.
